Promoting Positivity at SKLD Facilities

SKLD Ionia is keeping it positive and honoring staff. Since the end of February and throughout the month of March, employees have been being honored on “lucky” shamrocks, which are displayed in the facility. Staff are being recognized for their excellent work, good deeds and professionalism. From these symbols of recognition, one lucky shamrock was drawn to receive the Lucky Charm Award.

The winner, Kelsey Corriea, CNA at SKLD Ionia was recognized for her professionalism, work ethic and the wonderful care she provides patients and residents. Kelsey started working in the facility in 2008 as a CNA. When asked what she enjoys the most about being a CNA, Kelsey says it’s the patients. She has been married for seven years, and has a two-year-old son, and as of March, they added a kitten to the mix. SKLD Ionia Director of Nursing Rachel Gilbert says,

“Kelsey represents all that is good about SKLD care. She is an example of what direct patient care should look like. Kelsey is compassionate, hardworking, knowledgeable and brings her best each day she steps into the building. And she does it with a smile on her face.”

Along with this month’s Lucky Charm Award comes another gift from SKLD Administrator, Kim Vagnetti, who offered an additional perk to this month’s winner, sponsoring a meal of choice for the shift of choice. Kelsey has decided on a salad bar to share with first shift employees in April sometime. In response to the award, Kelsey says, “It’s just so nice to be surrounded by positivity where we work. I feel like things are getting better and better. It feels good to be recognized in this way.”

SKLD Ionia’s management team is looking forward to the months ahead and continuing to develop positive programs to create and secure a positive working environment while providing excellent patient care.
